The Beginning!
Well, I am going to attempt a blog here. Over the last two weeks and what looks to be the foreseeable future I will be trying to get a job out in wine country California. It will be a process and I thought it would be fun to keep track of it. I will also have some personal tasting notes every now and then as well. So stay in touch and I apologize for my lack of writing skills.
To kind of put a reference point on where I am right now the first thing you need to know is that work has become an animal. Not the kind that will make you want to pull your hair out because you are so busy. But, more of a - life is too short to live like this, so what the hell are you going to do about it, Gantt - type animal. Through the past year or so I have had a dream. One that can only happen if I get off my butt and make it happen. This is where that "new direction" line from the title comes in.
Starting about two weeks ago I have upped the ante so to speak in my job search. I am looking for employment out in California Wine Country, although Oregon's Willamette Valley would work too. With sites out there such as winejobs.com and vinvillage. Not to mention the countless others from Snooth all the way to wine 2.0, you can make friends in the industry and search for these jobs.
So far, I have applied for roughly 35 jobs. I have started cold calling wineries as well and I will keep you updated on that. From what I understand April is the big hiring season, yet I am wanting to get out there as soon as possible.
This blog will now be a journey from where I am now with a destination of the Northwest. Soon, I will be out there. I will let you know when you need to come visit.
