On rare occasions, the stars align and I have a really remarkable experience replete with great food, stunning wines and talented raconteurs. Such was the case last Friday. After leaving a gig at Blowin' Smoke BBQ, I stopped at Elizabeth on 37th, hoping to catch the end of a dinner showcasing Selbach wines. Johannes Selbach, of Weingut Selbach-Oster was guest of honor, and little did I know I would get to meet and chat with him AND Mario Bollag, chief of Terral Sole -- a Montalcino winery with a diverse book of wines and a reputation for stunning Brunello. The stories were awesome, the company world class. I also made the acquaintance of Atlanta wine dealer Don Reddicks, who has a long association with Selbach and his benchmark Rieslings.
