Let's enjoy AZ's beautiful fall weather exploring some of the laid-back wine bars in the old west towns of Cave Creek and Carefree. We'll hit three venues, and will have plenty of time during the afternoon to venture into some of the antiques and specialty shops, as well.

We'll start at Cave Creek Coffee, Wine, & Martini Bar (C4, for short) for lunch. They have a full menu of salads, pizza, artisan and grilled sandwiches, bruschetta, cheeses, and desserts. Try one of the unique wines on their ever-changing specials list, or maybe you're up for a specialty martini. (Probably a good idea to get something to eat here, as the second stop only phones in orders to a nearby sub shop.)

Next stop is BRIX Wine Spot at Stagecoach Village (7100 Cave Creek Rd.). Never seen a true cowboy bar with an awesome selection of wine? You gotta check this place out! Their happy hour starts at 3 pm (though they open earlier), and they have both patio and indoor seating. In fact, the owners are likely to sit down and have a glass with you and chat about their latest find from their recent CA wine trip.

We will "wined" up at Cellar 13. The newest wine bar in the lot, it's just up the street in Carefree (7202 E. Ho Rd. - facing Tom Darlington Rd.), right next to a cigar shop for those who fancy themselves aficionados. It opens at 4 pm, and they serve sandwiches and salads. The owner freely admits that wine bars always intimidated him...until he opened his own. Very curious to check this place out...

I expect we will spend about an hour or so at each of the wine bars, but I am not sticking to a set schedule - we're on cowboy time out here.
