Meetup Description: Wine and Cheese Hike / Waterman Loop

This is a dog friendly hike
The return of the wine and cheese hike and a return to old Mt Waterman Ski Area off the Angeles Crest. This is one of my favorite short hikes and at about 5 miles round trip w/ 1300 vertical you can classify it as a beginner hike. This is a full loop trail w/ single track on the way up to the old lodge where we can rest on the outdoor benches and have our wine and cheese and we may even share w/ the highest paid employee in the LA county. The way down will be on a fire road and trust me ya'll may need that extra room to walk!

The Hike
Distance: 5 miles
Elevation: 1300ft
Difficulty: Beginners are welcome BUT if you're out of shape you're not going to like the first 2 miles at all but again that's only if you're out of shape

Scenery: Beautiful single track even the fire road ain't half bad and the lodge has steadily been getting improvements over the last 4yrs with new ownership.

Dogs: Dogs are welcome, no poison oak up there
Pace: Leisurely w/ lots of picture taking
Start Time: 2:00pm

Fee: A $5 Adventure Pass for parking

Trailhead
From the split at the 210 take Angeles Crest Highway(east) for 34 miles just past the Waterman ski lift. If you pass the Buckhorn campground you have gone too far. A possible carpooling place can be the usual Sierra Club meeting spot just north off the 210 Angeles Crest Hwy at 1:00 PM.
