VinVillage chosen as media partner for the
2010 European Wine Bloggers Conference

October 22-24, 2010 in Vienna, Austria

The 2010 European Wine Bloggers Conference (EWBC) will take place in Vienna, Austria, from October 22 – October 24 2010, bringing together bloggers and wine lovers of all backgrounds from around the world.

Founded and organized by Gabriella and Ryan Opaz of Catavino, and Robert McIntosh of The Wine Conversation, the 2008 conference, in La Rioja, Spain, was the first international event for Wine Bloggers and the first of an ongoing series of conferences and events under the “Wine Bloggers Conference” banner, including the recent 2009 EWBC conference, in Lisbon, Portugal and the series of US conferences too.

Our goal is to create a network of wine bloggers across the globe to spread information, broaden the culture of wine, improve industry standards, and above all else, create a physical space to communicate and share ideas.

Gabriella, Ryan and Robert continue to organize the series of events, but we are also grateful for the incredible efforts of our friends and fellow bloggers, and our sponsors, in making these events happen. If you wish to become involved in some way, or think you have something to offer, do get in touch.

Hosted in Vienna, the 2010 European Wine Bloggers Conference programme will include several sessions addressing topical subjects for all online wine communicators, as well as several streams of smaller group sessions to generate and nurture some practical discussions.

The 150 wine bloggers expected at the EWBC 2010 will not only attend a wide range of educational sessions, but also visit several key wineries within easy reach of Vienna and also enjoy the best of Austrian cuisine. The event will provide ample opportunity for bloggers to experience the food, wine and culture of Austria.

Wine bloggers, journalists, wine industry professionals and social media innovators will join together to discuss the convergence between the culture of wine and the internet.

The vineyards in Austria cover 51,000 hectares which generally lie in the east and southeast of the country. Austria as a wine producing country is divided into 4 wine growing regions of which ‘Wien’ (Vienna), Austria’s capital, makes up 700 hectares of vineyards. Vienna, along with Paris, Prague, Bratislava and London is one of the few remaining world capital cities with its own vineyards. Amongst the wines produced here, white wines undoubtedly comprise the larger portion, which we will happily explore.
