Segment-3: "Could it be a WhistlePig?!" WhistlePig Straight Rye Whiskey: 10-Year Old 100% Rye, 100 Proof - David Pickerell

David Pickerell spent nearly a year researching for the perfect rye. The former Master Distiller of Maker's Mark Bourbon for 15-years, Pickerell finally landed on perfection with WhistlePig 10-year old 100% rye bottled at 100 proof. A 100% rye whiskey is very rare today... to be called "rye," it only needs to be a minimum of 51 percent rye. On this project, Pickerell teamed up with another colourful personality: Raj Peter Bhakta, owner of WhistlePig Farm Distillery of Shoreham, Vermont, who appeared on one of NBC's highest rating shows, The Apprentice, season 2 as a contestant.

Segment-4: What Do Chemistry, West Point Military Academy, Football, and Whiskey Share in Common? - David Pickerell

David Pickerell knew at the tender age of five that he wanted to become a chemical engineer. He is living proof that dreams do come true as one of the spirit industry's most highly respected chemist-distillers. In 2008, Pickerell performed as the Master Distiller at George Washington's Distillery at historic Mount Vernon to restore the original stills built by the first President of the United States back in 1814. Pickerell describes his research on the 10-second barrel-charring window which results in distinct berry aromas in a whiskey, similar to what a winemaker chooses for barrel toast aroma layering for aging red wines.
