01: Dr. Liz Thach is an internationally recognized academic author and professor in wine business. In 2011 she earned the title of Master of Wine after years of rigorous study and preparation. She was also awarded The F. Korbel & Brothers Professorship in Wine Business at Sonoma State University's Wine Business Institute to recognize and extend the important relevant research of the Institute in wine marketing, wine strategy, and wine economics. The three-year Professorship, awarded to Liz Thach Ph.D., will fund studies that create a significant impact on the industry and the region, and deepen understanding of the global business of the wine industry.

Segment-2: Wine Sommelier - Sonoma State Grad, Ian Cauble, Wins Title of Top Young Sommelier in the World - Ian Cauble
 
02: Relaxing on his hotel balcony in Santorini, Greece, Ian Cauble alerted his friends and relatives to the good news via Facebook, “I won the World Championship.” After an intense 8 hour competition in Greece, Ian was named Top Young Sommelier of the World by the Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, the world’s oldest gastronomic society based in Paris, France. "I am honored to bring the world title home to the United States,” said Ian. In addition, Cauble was recently named Best Young Sommelier in America (competition for under 34 year old sommeliers) and Best Young Sommelier in the World (under 34 years of age). “Ian Cauble is an incredibly talented sommelier,” said Steven Holt, Director of Public Relations for The Ritz-Carlton at HalfMoon Bay where Ian currently works as head sommelier. A review of Ian’s accomplishment in only 10 years after graduating from Sonoma State University are quite astounding.

Segment-3: Wine & Charities - Colby Red California Cuvee Supports Charities That Promote Heart Health - Daryl Groom
 
03: Colby Groom is now 13 years of age. Just prior to his 10th birthday he underwent back to back open heart surgeries. He is now a seasoned volunteer with the American Heart Association and was inspired to raise money for heart research through creating a wine his his Dad, notable winemaker Daryl Groom and Colby Red was born. Colby Red is a blend of California Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Shiraz, Merlot, and Petite Sirah.

Segment-4: Wine - Groom South Australia Premium Wines Where the Fruit Does All The Talking - Daryl Groom
 
04: Marschall Groom Cellars is a very small family winery situated in the famous Barossa Valley region of South Australia. The winery produces three varietals, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz & Zinfandel - under the label GROOM. The dream started to become reality with the purchase of 87 acres of bare land in the Kalimna appellation of the Barossa Valley, directly adjacent to the renowned Penfolds Kalimna vineyard - the home of Grange. In 2000, 8 acres of experimental Zinfandel vines were planted on the Kalimna Bush Block. 2008 Groom Sauvignon Blanc receives highest score awarded a Sauvignon Blanc in the recently released, bestselling James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2010 Edition.
