Second segment of this weeks Show: Anne Amie Vineyards, Oregon, Blissful Wines – Patrick Evanson and Thomas Houseman

Patrick Evanson, family representative, and Thomas Houseman, Winemaker, Anne Amie Vineyards, Carlton, Oregon, talk about their blissfully delicious 2009 Pinot Gris and 2009 Cuvée A Müller Thurgau award-winning wines at the 2010 Pacific Coast Oyster Wine Competition. Pinot reigns supreme at Anne Amie Vineyards with Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc forming the heart of production. Old-Vine Estate Riesling and Müller Thurgau, planted in 1979 round out the vineyard selection.

Third segment of this weeks Show: Willamette Valley’s Anne Amie Vineyards Second Life - Thomas Houseman and Patrick Evanson

When Dr. Robert Pamplin, one of Oregon’s most forward-thinking philanthropists and businessmen, purchased the historic Chateau Benoit Winery in 1999, his vision was to create wines of the highest quality to reflect his passion for excellence. To this end Dr. Pamplin has charged winemaker Thomas Houseman and winegrower Jason Tosch with the task of crafting extraordinary pinot noir. Anne Amie estate vineyards, along with those that they purchase from, receive only the minimal required treatments and yields are dramatically reduced in order to give fruit with great depth and complexity. Anne Amie Vineyards is part of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA and the Chehalem Mountains Winegrowers.

Virginia Willis is a French-trained chef, television producer, food stylist, cooking teacher, and food writer. Formerly Martha Stewart Living’s kitchen manager (she still appears as a regular guest), she now makes her home in Atlanta, Georgia. She joins us to share cooking stories from her upbringing, published in Bon Appétit, Y’All: Recipes and Stores from Three Generations of Southern Cooking. As Nathalie Dupree writes in the foreword,” “This book reflects Virginia’s quintessential Southerness. In the South, the first thing one is asked is, Who are your people?”
