Bettina Doulton, Owner/Operator, Cellardoor Winery & Vineyard spent 21 years as an equity analyst, mutual fund portfolio manager and group manager for Fidelity Investments in Boston. Her world changed in 2005 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer which she overcame. In February, 2007 she became a winery owner and moved up to Linconville, Maine, located in the Camden/Rockport region. Her 68-acres of vineyards are located on a south-facing slope of a valley and enjoys a unique microclimate, protected from Maine's harsh winter weather. Second segment of this weeks Show: Rendezvous (Austrian) Wine & (Classical) Music: An Encounter Between Two Art Forms - Willi Klinger

Willi Klinger, Director, Austrian Wine Marketing Board returns with a fabulous new idea.... just released... a two-disc CD set featuring musical compositions to pair with Austrian wine varietals. Twenty-four musical selections ranging from Bizet to Brahms, from Schubert to Strauss, highlight the similarities between wine and music. Words used to describe a good wine are strikingly similar to those used to characterize musical compositions. Rendezvous Wine & Music takes the listener on a tour of eight varieties of Austrian wine (including sparkling, white, red and dessert), with three musical compositions offered to match each wine. The CD set retails for $38 and can be ordered online.

Third segment of this weeks Show: St. Helena appellation Old Vine Petite Sirah and Cabernet from Varozza Vineyards - Dianna Varozza

As if enjoying a second childhood, the two-story winery/barn at 514 Pratt Street, St. Helena, Napa Valley, California, is undergoing a complete renovation and seismic retrofit of its wood and solid rock walls. The Varozza barn will be one of five historic, iconic Napa Valley barns on display August 30th for Preservation Napa Valley Barn Tour 2009. The family-owned St. Helena barn and 40-acre ranch is planted to 38-acres of 75-year old vine Petite Sirah and 55-year old Cabernet Sauvignon under the Varozza Vineyards label with Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc under contract. With around two tons to the acre, they are able to produce 150-200 cases of Petite Sirah and 300-350 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 36-months in French oak. Reflecting their personal preference for seriously intense, dark, rich red wines, Varozza's wines are five years old when released to the public.

Fourth segment of this weeks Show: Since 1880, five generations of Posts have cultivated and harvested grapes to make Post Familie wines in Altus, Arkansas - Joseph Post

Joseph is Master Commander of the great state of Arkansas. His father is a Supreme Knight in the Brotherhood of the Knights of the Vine, and his mother has been awarded the high honor of being Admitted and Accepted into the New World Masters of Wine on May 8, 2004 A.D. His parents raised a family of 12 tending vines for Post Familie Vineyards and for use as Alter Wine for 12 churches.... a conversation that we will explore in December. They have 200 acres planted to bunch grapes (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, etc.) and 100 acres under the Muscadine vine in the Altus, Arkansas American Viticultural Appellation in the Ozark Mountains and the Arkansas River valley. Twenty percent of their business is from free-run, flash pasteurized fresh grape juice and jellies.
