First segment of this weeks Show: New Jersey's Unionville Vineyards Terroir Wins Gold in the "IWSC" International Wine and Spirit Competition - John Hawkins and Cameron Stark

Unionville Vineyards of Ringoes, New Jersey, recently won an international Gold Medal for the 2008 Single Vineyard Chardonnay, Pheasant Hill for achieving the highest quality and excellence in a wine category. The Gold 'Best In Class' Medal for the total Dry White Wine Class was awarded to the vineyard by The International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC), founded in 1969, London, and is the premier competition of its kind in the world. According to the tasting notes, Unionville stunned the judges into awarding Gold Best In Class for this New Jersey Chardonnay with striking honeysuckle notes, ripe melon and mango. Unionville Vineyards Winemaker and General Manager Cameron Stark is a thirteen year veteran Napa Valley Winemaker and UC Davis educated. John Hawkins is one of the three local vineyard-grower-partners of Unionville Vineyards.

Second segment of this weeks Show: Unionville Vineyards farm originating in 1858 Hunterdon County, New Jersey, Site of Historic "Council of War" - Cameron Stark and John Hawkins

Unionville Vineyards in Amwell Valley, New Jersey, has 88.6 acres of home property that is open to the public. The winery is a strong supporter of agriculture, farming, local businesses and tourism. The Pheasant Hill Single Vineyard is also the site of the famous "Council of War" in June of 1778 when General George Washington, the Marquis de Lafayette and 15 other Continental Army Generals stayed and made the decision to engage the British in what became the Battle of Monmouth. Unionville Vineyards' 2008 Single Vineyard Chardonnay, Pheasant Hill was the only wine from the United States in any category to be awarded Gold in 2010 by The IWSC, and one of only nine in the entire northern hemisphere. It is the first US dry white wine to win an IWSC Gold Medal in the last two years, outperforming premium labels such as Beringer, Cakebread Cellars, Robert Mondavi, Stags Leap, and Sonoma Cutrer to take home the Gold.
