Sandro Boscaini is President of The Amarone Families which include Allegrini, Begali, Brigaldara, Masi, Musella, Nicolis, Speri, Tedeschi, Tenuta Sant' Antonio, Tommasi, Venturini, and Zenato. They have banded together to form an association of exclusively family-owned companies to champion minimum quality standards and prices for all Amarone della Valpolicella Classico to include the attempt to persuade producers to declassify wines in lower quality vintages.

Second segment of this weeks Show: Famiglie del' Amarone d'Arte Producing Artistic Treasures of the Veneto - Sandro Boscaini

Each of the producers in Famiglie del' Amarone d'Arte must be vineyard owners with at least 15 years of experience, selling at least 20,000 bottles in at least five countries outside of Europe. The thirst for Amarone has exploded in recent years, so much that the quality image might suffer due to unscrupulous non-traditional means. The 'quality ladder' within the Veneto is Valpolicella, Valpolicella Classico, Ripasso, Amarone and Recioto with Amarone regarded as the "point of reference for the best wine produced in the region" according to Sandro Boscaini.
