New Years Resolutions

Its' that time of year again.  New Year's resolution time.  I searched the internet and found that most of the polls and surveys had some version of the list below.  Now I'm sure that if these apply to you, they sound like nobel and worthwhile goals for the new year.  So read through them and see which ones appeal to you and then make a plan to achieve them.  Hint: enlist the help of friends and family and you will greatly increase your odds of succeeding.   Below the generic NY's resolutions I've listed a couple of my own.

  • 1. Stop smoking
  • 2. Get Fit
  • 3. Lose Weight
  • 4. Enjoy Life More
  • 5. Quit Drinking
  • 6. Get Organized
  • 7. Learn Something New
  • 8. Get Out of Debt
  • 9. Spend more time with the Family
  • 10. Help Others

Here are mine.  I've only got four.  I actually started several of the ones from the top list some weeks ago.  Cleaned up my finances, started working out daily (most days anyway), and lost 12 pounds.  See what you think and email me if you'd like to share any of your's that aren't on either list.

1.  Cook more meals at home.  Do it with friends and/or family.  I try to do it at least a couple of times a week with my eleven-year old.  It's cheaper, usually healthier, and it just plain feels good.

2.  Drink more wine.  Once again with family and/or friends.  Use any excuse or no excuse at all.  A glass of red, white, or bubbly makes any meal a little more special.

3.  Breathe deeply.  Your breath feeds your body and breathing deeply calms you and feeds your soul.  Try breathing out love and breathing in gratitude.

4.  Give and receive more love.  When you and I are gone, no one is going to give a rat's behind how much we earned, what kind of car we drove, or where we stood in some corporate hierarchy.  The only true lasting impact we will have on those we leave behind will be the quality and quantity of the love we gave and received.  So find a way to get and give more.

Happy New Year and may God bless you all year long wherever you are.
